What is Dyslexia?

  • For learning:

    • Use multisensory activities to help the child process information easier (i.e. physical activity and spelling)

    • Highlight key ideas/words for the child on their papers or on a board, and summarize what was taught at the end of the lesson

    • Provide a glossary of terms used in the lessons

  • For emotional regulation:

    • Use role-playing and scenarios to teach the child self-advocacy skills

    • Teach the child self-regulation strategies to use when they feel overwhelmed (i.e. muscle relaxation, squeeze a stress ball)
