Adolescent Therapy

Individual Counselling Sessions for Adolescent/Teens

Individual therapy (sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling”) is a process through which adolescences/teens work one-on-one with a trained therapist in a safe, caring, interactive and confidential environment. Teens will explore and learn about their feelings, beliefs, or behaviours, work through challenges they face or influential memories and experiences, learn to identify problems and opportunities for growth and strategy use, better understand themselves and others, work towards therapeutic goals, desired changes and overall happiness and success.

Reasons adolescence/teens would benefit from therapy:

  • Anxiety or Depression
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD)
  • Behavioural Issues
  • Eating Disorders and Body Image Issues
  • Learning Disabilities or Exceptionalities
  • Trauma or Life Transitions
  • Separation and Divorce
  • Emotional Regulation Issues
  • Social Struggles or Low Self Confidence
  • & more..

Sessions are held in office or virtually; if coming into the office is difficult or if you’d prefer online options, we provide Skype, Zoom and phone options for your convenience.

An intake session is the first step in the process, the initial intake can be done with just the parent/guardian, both parent/guardian and the adolescent or with just the adolescent. This decision is dependant on the family’s preference and age of the adolescent. Contact us today to book.
